About the Event
What is the Citizens Academy?
The Citizens Academy is a behind-the-scenes experience designed to educate members of our community on the role and responsibilities of the District Attorney’s Office. Over the course of the program, participants will explore the entire process of prosecuting a criminal case – from the moment it comes in the door to the final arguments in a courtroom.

Q: Who can participate?
A: The Citizens Academy is open to those who live or work in the 23rd Judicial District (Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties) of Colorado. Applicants must pass a basic background check. For those under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must consent for or attend with the minor.
Q: Do I need a legal background to attend?
A: Not at all! Our Academy is designed for everyone.
Q: Is this event in-person or virtual?
A: This is an in-person event held in Castle Rock. Location and parking information will be provided to applicants upon acceptance after applications have closed and been reviewed.
Q: Is there a cost to attend?
A: No, the program is completely free.
Q: How do I apply to attend?
