If you’re here, you’re looking for an upgrade.
You found it.
We are constantly looking for talented, motivated, fun prosecutors and investigators to add to our team.
Our jurisdiction:
- loves and supports prosecutors and local law enforcement
- is the wealthiest per capita in Colorado
- spends $$$ to recruit and retain top-shelf performers
- prioritizes public safety and quality of life
- enjoys great coordination and collaboration with each of our local LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies)
- arrests the bad guys, jails them, and prosecutes them
- has a strong working relationship with our Defense Bar and great Public Defenders
Our prosecutors are not social workers. We pursue justice and hold law-breakers accountable. They are not individuals with dockets, they are a team with a mission.
Our investigators are not here at the end of their law-enforcement careers. They are in their prime. They are not glorified process servers, they generate cases, provide investigative support and participate as TFOs (Task Force Officers).
Opportunities
We encourage prosecutor development and provide opportunities for specialization, including:
- SVU
- HT
- DV
- Elder Abuse
- Economic Crime
- Organized Crime
- SAUSA, full-time embedded in the US Attorney’s Office
We are aggressive in telling the story of the hard work the team does to the public. No office in Colorado does more to publicize our individual prosecutors—from county court through district court—and the great work they do in and out of court. We give credit where credit is due and make sure your Mom and Dad have the opportunity to be proud of what you’re doing in adulthood (and not living in your old room in their house).

We will pay for talent.

Vacation Accrual (Prosecutors and Investigators)
In addition to the chart below, our DA routinely finds ways to provide discretionary admin time to grow holiday weekends by another day to spend at home with loved ones.
We believe in prioritizing family. We do not “bed check” professionals to see if they are constantly in their offices. We remain supremely flexible with the occasional needs for self or family, if the job is getting done well.
Completed Years of Continuous Service | Accrual Rate Per Month in Hours | Current Annual Vacation Benefit | Maximum Accrual* |
---|---|---|---|
0 – 5 years | 9.0 hours | 108 hours (13.5 days) | 216 hours |
6 – 10 years | 11.0 hours | 132 hours (16.5 days) | 264 hours |
11 – 15 years | 13.0 hours | 156 hours (19.5 days) | 312 hours |
16 – 19 years | 14.0 hours | 168 hours (21 days) | 336 hours |
20 years + | 15.0 hours | 180 hours (22.5 days) | 360 hours |
*Maximum accrual equals double the employee’s current annual accrual rate.
Sick Leave
We hope you don’t need but recognize that it is a reality of life. Here is how it is accrued:
All full-time employees accrue eight hours of sick leave per month. New hires will have sick leave accruals pro-rated to the nearest quarter hour for the first month of employment based upon date of hire. Sick leave accrual for regular full-time employees is unlimited and carries forward from year to year. The County also offers a Sick Leave Conversion based on years of service and the employee’s sick leave balance at the time of the request.
Fun
Finally, this job is demanding and can be emotionally draining. Your co-workers should not be. We love to have fun. We want teammates who are good-natured, collegial, and like to laugh. If you are super serious, brooding, and quick to temper…there are other offices better suited for you…maybe even the Public Defender’s Office. Kidding.
See 🙂
Be fulfilled in your job. Be safe in your community. Plan for your future. Start or raise a family. Fight crime. Be happy.
